Pinot Noir Tumbarumba

Pinot Noir Tumbarumba

2023 Pinot Noir
Tumbarumba, New South Wales

Aromatic with vibrant and fresh fruit flavours of cherry and raspberry, medium bodied with soft tannins

$35 each

Description

Pinot Noir grapes were sourced from the cooler climate and higher altitude of Tumbarumba, which provides a distinctive earthy aroma and bright red fruit characters. The fruit was handpicked and delivered directly to our winery where we destemmed and gently crushed it before a week of cold maceration, to increase the extraction of skin derived phenolics and colour, prior to kicking off fermentation. It then went into seasoned French oak for its malolactic fermentation in our temperature-controlled cellar. This elegant variety will mature in French oak, 15% new, for 9 months before bottling next year.

Bright red cherry fruit with gentle savoury spice notes of bay leaf, violets and cracked pepper. Silky tannins and medium bodied, this Pinot has hit the ground running at the cellar door with enthusiastic tasters giving it two thumbs up. We recommend letting it settle in the bottle for another 6 months or so to allow it time to fully release the forest fruit and earthy aromas. Although, we hasten to add, the cellar door patrons who have road-tested this wine are convinced that this wine is ready to enjoy now.
